Karen Marsh, PE

Karen Marsh, PE, is the founder and president of Lumina Sky Consulting, helping oil and gas operators and technology innovators navigate complex emissions regulations with clarity, confidence, and foresight. With more than 20 years of experience in environmental regulations and chemical engineering, Karen brings a rare perspective that bridges policy, industry, and technology.

Before founding Lumina Sky, Karen spent 13 years at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards, serving as lead rule writer for landmark regulations in oil and gas, municipal solid waste, and chemical manufacturing. She has also worked as a consultant for five years, supporting industry compliance efforts and performing audits. That experience shaped her unique approach as a rule writer, understanding regulations not only from the policy perspective, but also from the point of view of those working to comply.

 

Karen is driven by a deep belief that everyone has the right to clean air, safe water, and sustainable food, and that economic growth and industry innovation can coexist with environmental responsibility. She helps clients align compliance with progress, bridging policy and technology to unlock practical solutions while protecting the environment.

 

Outside of work, Karen enjoys playing keyboards for her church worship team, supporting her two boys on the sidelines at their soccer games, and exploring new places with a love of travel and history. She also enjoys mentoring young engineers, sharing her passion for science, and fostering curiosity in the next generation.
